Editor's Letter

The longer I live in South Florida, the more I can’t imagine living anywhere else. The winter season has been unseasonably cold and stormy in most all other parts of the country, while we’ve been enjoying lovely, balmy weather. In fact, it was difficult for me to remember what cold felt like until I had to pack a suitcase and take a trip up north at the end of the year. It actually took my breath away; it was that cold!

With beautiful weather all year round in South Florida, it is easy to get involved in outdoor activities - whether actively or as a spectator. Golf, tennis and equestrian are a big draw with so many excellent facilities in the area, while boating, fishing and water sports are some of the best in the country and easily accessible. South Florida has also attracted an impressive array of art and culture, and is considered among the world’s most celebrated cultural destinations. Be sure to check out the 2014 Calendar of Events on page 24 for a list of upcoming happenings.

Some of the finest residential country clubs are located in South Florida. In this issue we are highlighting Boca West Country Club and Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club, two award-winning communities set in beautiful, lush landscaping and offering first class amenities and state-of-the-art-facilities. Contact them directly to find out how you can experience their community for the day or weekend and explore the possibility of making their lifestyle your own.

The great news is that the South Florida real estate market is in recovery mode according to many experts, as people are ready to put the concerns of the last few years behind them and start investing in real estate again. Home prices have increased some, but are still below the peak of the market in December 2006. Now could be an excellent time to search for your dream home in South Florida.

If you are a business owner looking for an incentive to open or relocate a business to warmer weather, Florida has continued to provide a stable and highly favorable tax climate. See page 19 for additional information and a complete listing of tax advantages. There are many compelling reasons to consider Palm Beach County for your business, to include a supportive environment for many types of industries, a motivated and educated workforce, and an exceptional quality of life.

South Florida provides a beautiful backdrop for work as well as play. I invite you to browse through the following pages, dream big and make those dreams come true!
